UM bid farewell to our 9th Vice-Chancellor on 7 November 2008. During her two-year term, Datuk Rafiah Salim succeeded in bringing UM back on its right track for which we are forever grateful, uniting and encouraging us to perform towards achieving academic excellence, THES ranking, MQF or APEX – is another benchmark story. 
The Alumni Unit wishes her happiness and best wishes in her future plans. This includes her plan to write a journal on her experiences whilst at the helm of the University of Malaya.

UM welcomes back associate alumni, Datuk Professor Dr. Ghauth Jasmon as the 10th Vice-Chancellor on 8 November 2008.
With his experiences as an academician, Head of department, Dean, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of MMU, we’ll be striving ahead to achieve the goals of UM strategic plans.
We will give him our full support together we will move forward to achieve our common goal in making UM a world class university.
