RESEARCH PROJECTS

1. Organic Electronics 2. Synthetic compounds with potential anti-cancer
Research in Science
This project focuses on helping the industry to adopt The focus of this research is drug discovery and
the technology which can drive the performance of the development, particularly with regard to the anti-cancer
industry to an acceptable industrial level for Malaysian properties of chemically synthesized compounds on
electronic manufacturers. To do so, certain key both tissue-cultured models (in vitro) and on animal
intruments are needed such as Residual Gas Analyzer, testing (in vivo). Funding is needed to purchase high
Portable spectrometer, Monochromoter coupled light end equipment specifcally purchasing key instruments
source, Nitrogen pulsed laser and Oscillosope for time (Fluorescence microscope, Gouy balance, pH meter)
of fight set-up. We need funding to purchase such for synthesis and characterization of active compounds
equipment. as well as to acquire for biological tissue-cultured
facilities (protein transfer machine, Gel electrophoresis,
multichannel pipette, liquid nitrogen tank, SDS-PAGE
facilities) and animal house facilities for in vivo testing.

3. Nanostructures for Renewable Energy Application
Nanostructures Solar Cells have become increasingly
important to green technology. This research will be able
to optimize material’s properties for renewable green
technology, to enable contribution to the fundamental
studies of nanostructures and nanotechnology and
to further explore new materials and methodology in
renewable green technology.

4. A Risk Assessment of Biohazard in Shrimp Farming
for Quality and Safety Enhancement
In Malaysia, Aquaculture industry is one of the most
important industries that contribute towards a major
portion of the GDP. However, the industry is facing
many problems in exportation due to biological and
chemical contamination in the aquatic products
which result in the non-compliance with the EU
Regulations. Communicating the risk associated with
the consumption different types of foods is of prime
importance.
